About Brent Bookwalter
From Grassroots to the World Stage
I grew up in Michigan chasing every opportunity to ride and race my bike. What started on local trails and roads turned into a 16-year professional career at the highest level of cycling. I raced in the Olympics, lined up at the Tour de France, and spent over a decade riding for some of the world’s best teams, including BMC Racing Team and Mitchelton-Scott / BikeExchange.
I was known for grit, consistency, and a team-first mentality.
Along the way, I learned what it takes to perform under pressure, adapt through setbacks, and stay grounded through the highs and lows of elite competition.
A Turning Point
Even at the height of competition, I saw that success wasn’t only about training harder or riding faster. The difference between good and great often came down to mindset: confidence, clarity, and resilience when the stakes were highest.
That realization stayed with me after I stepped away from racing.
I knew my next chapter would focus on helping others strengthen the mental side of their own performance.
Mental Performance Coaching
Since earning my Master’s degree in Applied Sport & Performance Psychology, I’ve dedicated my work to helping athletes, teams, and organizations strengthen the mental side of performance. My coaching blends lessons from elite sport with evidence-based psychology to help people perform with clarity, resilience, and consistency under pressure.
My approach blends:
Empathy & lived experience - nearly two decades competing from the Olympics to the Tour de France, bringing firsthand understanding of high-performance demands.
Science-backed tools - grounded in sport and performance psychology, designed to turn mindset into a trainable skill.
Practical application - translating theory into actionable habits that drive confidence, focus, and results in real-world performance.
