Brent and Jamie Bookwalter found the Bookwalter Binge Gran Fondo in 2014 and it serves as the only active gran fondo organized and operated by a current professional American cyclist.

Jamie and Brent are passionate about protecting the environment. That’s why the Bookwalter Binge Gran Fondo raises funds to support the land conservation work done by Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.
The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy is one of the country’s oldest and most respected land trusts. Founded in 1974 as a non-profit, charitable organization, SAHC works to conserve beautiful views, challenging trails, habitat for songbirds and wildlife, pristine streams, and family farms producing local food for culinary delights.
2021 ROUTE
Multiple routes of varying length traverse some of the most beautiful roads in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Brent’s home in Asheville, North Carolina. Route options, including gravel, road, mixed terrain and single-track, will be distributed about two weeks prior to the ride and riders will be allowed to pick one or more routes to enjoy.
All routes begin and end at the Old Fort Ride House where there is ample parking. You can choose to start and finish your ride from the Ride House or anywhere along your chosen route. There will be no mass start.
There are 6 routes* to choose from including road, gravel, and MTB. Some routes are long and challenging, some are short and sweet, and some fall somewhere in the middle.
Choose your departure time and when the spinning is done, visit the Kitsbow Old Fort Ride House for a free craft beer.
Then, get ready to celebrate at the One Six Dun Party, hosted by Creekside Taphouse in Asheville, to celebrate the end of Brent’s professional racing career and usher in the Next Chapter for Brent, Jamie & Waylon Bookwalter. Great food & craft beer, the Binger community together again. Just what the soul needs.
