THE BOOKWALTER BINGE GRAN FONDO
Brent and Jamie Bookwalter found the Bookwalter Binge Gran Fondo in 2014 and it serves as the only active gran fondo organized and operated by a current professional American cyclist.
The fourth annual Bookwalter Binge was held on Saturday October 28, 2017.
The 2018 dates will be announced soon but plan to come join Brent and Jamie Bookwalter, other current and former professional cyclists and a plethora of amateur cyclists as they ride through the Blue Ridge Mountain.
The ride begins and ends at Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, NC where participants can enjoy the colorful fall foliage and experience the hospitality and charm of Black Mountain and Asheville.
Jamie and Brent are passionate about protecting the environment. That’s why the Bookwalter Binge Gran Fondo raises funds to support the land conservation work done by Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.
The Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy is one of the country’s oldest and most respected land trusts. Founded in 1974 as a non-profit, charitable organization, SAHC works to conserve beautiful views, challenging trails, habitat for songbirds and wildlife, pristine streams, and family farms producing local food for culinary delights.
The Bookwalter Binge offers three routes of varying length which traverse some of the most beautiful roads in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina:
- Gran – 7,400 ft of climbing in 83 miles
- Medio – 5,500 ft in 62 miles
- Piccolo – 2,500 ft in 29 miles
It’s a party on two wheels studded with races on timed sections.
